MCCLEARY, Wash., January 28, 2010 — Simpson Door Company is expanding options for its exterior French and Sash doors and sidelights with its latest innovation - the Simpson Simulated Divided Lite (SDL). Simpson SDL doors capture the elegance of a true divided lite with a single insulated glass unit, allowing the doors to achieve higher energy efficiency ratings and meet hurricane and design pressure (DP) requirements. simpsondoor.com

To obtain the divided-lite look, Simpson manufactures its SDL doors and sidelights with a "shadow spacer" between the two panes of glass and then permanently affixing decorative bars to both of the outward-facing sides of the glass. The bars are 7/8" thick and come in two profiles - ViewSaver® and Shaker - and multiple wood species or PVC for use with Simpson WaterBarrier® Technology.

"We're continuously looking for ways to improve the performance of our products and provide customers with options to meet their individual needs," says Brad Loveless, Marketing and Product Development manager for Simpson Door Company. "With SDL, we can now offer customers the authentic look of a true-divided lite door and the durability required for demanding climates."

Simpson exterior French and Sash doors and sidelights are available in dozens of designs and multiple heights, widths, wood species and glass textures. WaterBarrier Technology, available with French door designs, provides additional water protection to the exterior side of the door by combining a Medium Density Overlay (MDO) with PVC glazing bead.
