Simpson Expands Performance Series® Door Line
Exclusive WaterBarrier™ Technology Enhances Durability and Moisture Resistance
MCCLEARY, Wash. - Builders and homeowners wanting the look of wood inside and extra protection against Mother Nature on the outside have a new choice when selecting French doors. Simpson Door Company is pleased to introduce WaterBarrier™ Technology, the newest innovation from the Simpson Performance Series®, a collection of upgrades designed to allow wood doors to perform in the harshest of environments. WaterBarrier technology offers superior durability and resistance to moisture absorption, which is a natural fit for doors exposed to rain and moisture.
WaterBarrier technology combines a one-piece Medium Density Overlay (MDO) and PVC sticking on the outside of the door. These materials are time-tested, and when combined with the Performance Series five-year warranty, give homeowners and builders peace of mind when selecting exterior French doors.
"Our Performance doors have allowed builders and homeowners to enjoy the beauty of genuine wood doors in the harshest of climates," says Brad Loveless, marketing manager for Simpson Door Company. "We can now offer the newest in wood door technology to further protect the integrity of our doors for years of use."
The MDO features a thermoset acrylic latex primer topcoat, which provides a superior base for applying either water or alkyd-based paints. The result is an exceptional paint application on the outside and a nearly limitless choice of wood species on the inside, allowing homeowners to match interior living spaces.
In addition to WaterBarrier technology, the Performance Series features UltraBlock® technology, a composite block material that is finger-jointed into the bottom of a door's stiles, where water infiltration typically occurs. This eliminates bottom rail and lower stile rot, minimizes stile and rail separation and improves warp resistance in bottom rail and lower stile components. UltraBlock is offered in all Simpson 1-3/4" thick doors regardless of design or size, and comes standard when the WaterBarrier option is ordered.
